Going to Kindy is a deadly choice for your bubba. It is that fun play-based year of planned learning that will give your little one the best start before heading to school.  At Kindy, little ones learn how to make friends through activities, gain independence, problem solve and express themselves. A life of learning can begin at Kindy! Too deadly! - The Early Years Count

But how do you know when your bubba is ready to go?

In Queensland, kids are able to start Kindy the year they turn 4 before the 30 June. This is a bit confusing so using this Prep calculator can help you to work out exactly what year they can start based on their year of birth: https://www.qld.gov.au/education/earlychildhood/prep/enrolments

When you enrol your bubba into Kindy or Prep there is often a lot of paper work which needs to be filled out. It is best to visit the Kindy or school in which you wish you little one to go to, to collect all this paper work from them directly.

On this paper work you will be required to fill out personal information about your bubba such as their name, age and medical information. You will also be required to show the school or Kindy your bubba’s birth certificate and immunisation certificate. If you don’t have these documents, now is the time to get them organised as it can take time. If you need to get your little one a birth certificate, our Mums and Babies’ clinic at Gorden Street can assist with helping you to complete the forms and direct them to Births, Deaths and Marriages through our partnership with Deadly Choices - click here for more information

And if you are a current patient of TAIHS, Mums and Bubs can also assist you with obtaining your bubs immunisation record and if not head to this website to find out how https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/medicare/australian-immunisation-register

At TAIHS we have been hosting ‘Preparing for Kindy and Prep’ mornings. During these mornings we have been helping families enrol their bubbas into Kindy and Prep. We have also been assisting with information on the Deadly Kindies program and how it can help get their bubba to Kindy. Check out our TAIHS website for more information about Deadly Kindies

We will be hosting another special 'Preparing for Kindy and Prep' morning at Yamani Meta on 15 January. If you're a Townsville local, come and join us! It runs from 10am until 12pm, with activities and morning tea provided, 16 Peel Street, Garbutt.
