TAIHS Family Intervention Services (FIS) provides short-term, intensive, in-home peer support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with children at risk or with initial child protection concerns.

Family Intervention Officers assist families to address issues such as homelessness, impending homelessness, family conflict, schooling, child care and education participation by children and parents, poverty, household management, parenting skills and community support networks.

Referral can only be made by the Queensland Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, and supports families in the Townsville area.

Staffing
The program is staffed by a Program Manager and four FIS Support Officers.
